What experience is required?

This role requires 6+ years of swim instruction experience across infant, child, and adult populations, and at least 4 years in a supervisory, management, or instructor training capacity. You should have a demonstrated ability to train instructors and develop other instructor trainers. This is not an entry-level position.

?

What does the role look like week to week?

You will be in the water teaching lessons and on deck supporting your team. A meaningful part of the role is training and developing other instructors: observing their lessons, giving structured feedback, and helping them improve. As we grow, you will also be involved in curriculum development and training program design.

?

How much of the role is in the water vs. on deck?

Both. You lead by example in the water and you manage and mentor from the deck. The balance shifts as you grow into the role and take on more responsibility in training and curriculum work.

?

What does developing other trainers actually mean?

It means being responsible for how other instructors teach, not just how you teach. You will observe lessons, give structured feedback, identify where instructors need support, and help build a training program that holds up as we grow. If you have done this before, you know what it takes.

?

How does scheduling work?

We work with your availability when setting your schedule. Schedules do not change week to week, and we will always speak with you before expanding or reducing your hours. This role requires availability of at least 20 hours per week, including Saturdays.

?

Do I have to work holidays?

Major holiday work is not required. We are open on smaller holidays, and those shifts follow normal scheduling.

?

What is the pay?

Head Swim Instructors earn $30-40/hr, plus 10% more on every weekend shift. Health benefits are available after 30 hours per week.

?

Is there a path to more responsibility?

Yes, and it is real. These roles were created because Sutton is growing. There is a genuine path toward expanded responsibility in curriculum development, training program design, and organizational leadership. We are not offering titles. We are offering a seat at the table as we build something worth being part of.

?

What does the application process look like?

Apply through the listing. If it looks like a good match, someone from our team will reach out to set up a conversation. The interview process includes both an in-person conversation and an in-water session. We try to move quickly and communicate clearly at every step.

head swim instructor

Pool & Deck - Campbell, California

$25–$35/hr • part-time to full-time • year-round • indoor heated pool (90°F)

We're looking for a seasoned aquatic educator who is ready to lead a team, develop instructors, and help shape how Sutton Swim School teaches swimming for years to come.

We are looking for someone who has spent years in the water with students of all kinds, and who is equally invested in the growth of the people they teach alongside. You lead by example, in the water and on the deck, and you earn respect through technical excellence, steady presence, and genuine care for every person on the team.

As Sutton Swim School grows, so does this role. Head Instructors have a real path toward expanded responsibility in curriculum development, training program design, and organizational leadership. We are not offering titles. We are offering a seat at the table as we build something worth being part of.

sales representative

Front Desk - Campbell, California

$28–$35/hr • full-time • year-round • indoor heated pool (90°F)

We're looking for a people-first sales professional who can build lasting relationships with families from the very first phone call, and keep them.

This is a sales role first and a customer service role second. You're the first person most parents talk to when they're considering swim lessons for their child. Your job is to listen, find the right fit, and help them commit. We're looking for someone who closes not by pushing, but by genuinely knowing what they're offering and believing in it.

Here's what makes this role different: you'll teach one three-hour in-water swim lesson shift per week, every week. It's essential, not optional. You can't sell our programs with real conviction if you've never been in the water helping a kid learn to float. We'll train you for this. If that sounds like a reason to keep reading, you're our kind of person.

You'll open or close the building on your shifts and serve as the on-duty point person for families when the manager isn't on site. For the right person, there's a clear path toward Assistant Manager and, eventually, Customer Service Manager.

  • Health benefits after 30 hours per week (this role qualifies)

  • In-water instructor training provided

  • CPR and First Aid certification paid for by us

Job Benefits

  • Aid training and reliable scheduling; your schedule does not change week to week

  • Real growth path toward Assistant Manager and Customer Service Manager

  • Access to showers, individual changing rooms, and a generous breakroom

?

What sales experience is required?

At least 4 years of sales experience is required. Experience selling services and working with families is strongly preferred. This is a role for someone who already knows how to listen, find the right fit, and help people commit, not someone learning the basics.

?

What is the deal with teaching swim lessons?

You will teach one three-hour in-water swim lesson shift per week, every week. This is not optional or temporary. We train you for it. The reason is simple: you cannot sell our programs with real conviction if you have never been in the water teaching a kid to roll and float. If that makes sense to you, keep reading.

?

Do I need to know how to swim well?

You need to be comfortable in the water. You do not need to be an experienced swim instructor. We provide full instructor training. What we ask is that you are willing to learn and committed to showing up in the water every week as part of the job.

?

What does the day-to-day sales work look like?

You are the first person most parents talk to. You take inbound calls and inquiries, learn what a family needs, and help them find the right program and commit to it. You close by knowing the product and believing in it, not by pushing. You also help maintain long-term family relationships once they are enrolled.

?

What are the scheduling requirements?

The role requires availability Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, plus Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This is a year-round, full-time position at an indoor facility, so availability is consistent and predictable.

?

What is the pay and what benefits are offered?

This role pays $28-$35/hr depending on experience. Health insurance is available after 30 hours per week, and this role qualifies. You also carry Shift Lead responsibility from day one, which is reflected in how the role is structured and compensated.

?

What does Shift Lead responsibility mean?

On your shifts you will open or close the building and serve as the on-duty point person for staff and families when the manager is not on site. This is real responsibility from day one, not something you earn after months of proving yourself.

?

Is there a path to grow beyond this role?

Yes, and it is a clear one. There is a direct path toward Assistant Manager and, eventually, Customer Service Manager. These are not vague promises. Sutton is a family-owned school that has been here for decades. People who do well here tend to stay and grow.

?

What does the application process look like?

Apply through the listing. If it looks like a good match, someone from our team will reach out to set up a conversation. The interview process includes both an in-person conversation and an in-water session. We try to move quickly and communicate clearly at every step.
